Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE is Samsung‘s act of courage to make foldables mainstream. Unveiled at the July 9 Unpacked event with the flagship Z Flip 7, this “Fan Edition” is aimed at price-sensitive consumers. But priced at $899 (128GB) to start, detractors say it’s not the value proposition Samsung made it out to be. Pre-orders are available now, and general availability begins July 25—but does its specs ring true with the price tag?
What You Actually Get – Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE
Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE costs $200 less than the Z Flip 7, yet still feels overpriced. In Europe, it starts at €999 (£848), while the 256GB variant hits $959 (₹95,999 in India). Analysts expected a $700–$750 tag to compete with Motorola’s $699 Razr. Instead, it’s a recycled Galaxy Z Flip 6 with a slower Exynos 2400 chipset—hardly a bargain for “FE” seekers. Worse still, it comes with just 8GB RAM and no vibrant colors (only Black or White).
Samsung fills the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE with hardware that’s one generation old. The 3.4-inch cover display (720p) seems tight compared to the Z Flip 7’s 4.1-inch edge-to-edge display. On the inside, a 6.7-inch 120Hz AMOLED screen glows, but cameras borrow the Z Flip 6 configuration: 50MP main + 12MP ultra-wide. A 4,000mAh battery charges at 25W—same as the model in 2024. The redeeming feature? Seven years of software support and all Galaxy AI features such as Gemini Live and Now Bar. There’s durability in the form of Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and IP48 resistance against water. Availability and Early Offers

Pre-orders began July 9, and sales are live from July 25. In India, Samsung reduced prices for a limited time: the 256GB variant is priced at ₹89,999 (same as 128GB) if pre-booked until July 12. American consumers receive 6 months of Google AI Pro + 2TB cloud storage. Carrier offers are, however, necessary to balance the $899 MSRP. With Motorola having been aggressive on price, Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE requires discounts in order to make a sell.
The Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE is not the foldable revolution we’ve been dreaming about. At $900, it’s a hard ask against the $699 Motorola Razr 2025 or used Z Flip 6. Although Samsung’s software support and AI features are impressive, the antiquated design and average specs conflict with the “Fan Edition” spirit. If prices fall to $750, it’s worth considering. Otherwise, patience is in order.
