Samsung has reportedly begun early development of One UI 9 for its 2026 foldables. The first internal test build for the Galaxy Z Flip8 (SM-F776U) has now surfaced online, indicating that backend work is already in progress.
According to the leak, the Galaxy Z Flip8 is now running an internal build with the version number F776USQU0AZB1 / F776UOYN0AZB1, which strongly points toward early One UI 9 development.

Galaxy Z Flip8 Enters Early One UI 9 Testing
As expected, this firmware is not meant for public testing. It likely includes basic framework-level changes and internal system adjustments. Still, the appearance of this build confirms that Samsung has begun backend work much earlier than usual.
The Galaxy Z Flip8 itself is expected to build on the improvements introduced with previous Flip models. Reports suggest Samsung may further expand the cover display, making it more practical for apps, notifications, and quick actions without unfolding the phone.
Under the hood, the Galaxy Z Flip8 is likely to feature a future Snapdragon chipset optimized for Galaxy devices. Better efficiency and thermal performance are expected, especially important for compact foldable designs like the Flip series.
On the software side, One UI 9 is expected to bring further refinements for foldables. This may include smoother Flex Mode behavior, better app continuity, and more intelligent UI adjustments when switching between folded and unfolded states.
One UI 9 is also expected to power the upcoming Galaxy S26 series, including the S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra. With new chipsets, heavier AI integration, and camera upgrades rumored for the S26 lineup, One UI 9 is shaping up to be a shared foundation for Samsung’s next wave of flagship phones—foldables included.
