Galaxy S26 Plus display updates are minimal this year, as new reports confirm that the phone will use the same 6.66-inch screen as the Galaxy S25 Plus. Fans hoping for a major upgrade might be disappointed, though minor improvements to the OLED layers could still be present.
Initially, Samsung had considered using a more advanced OLED display for the S26 Plus, similar to the one being developed for the Galaxy S26 Edge. However, the company ultimately decided against it. Sources say that time constraints and a tight production schedule left Samsung with little room to overhaul the screen. So while there might be some subtle improvements, the display will largely feel familiar.
Galaxy S26 Plus Display Upgrades Are Mostly Under the Hood
The Plus model wasn’t supposed to be part of the initial S26 lineup. Samsung had briefly considered a smaller, leaner lineup with just the base and Edge models. But when the decision was reversed in late October, the company didn’t have much time to make major changes to the Plus. That means the phone will look almost identical to the S25 Plus.
The biggest change for the S26 Plus is under the hood. Depending on the region, the phone will feature either the new Exynos 2600 or the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. This ensures users get improved performance and efficiency, even if the screen and design don’t see major upgrades.
While the base and Plus models remain largely the same, Samsung is focusing its innovations on the Galaxy S26 Ultra. The Ultra is expected to feature the new M14 OLED panel, which reduces power consumption and adds hardware-based privacy features. Samsung is also producing far more Ultra units—around 3.6 million—compared to 700,000 and 600,000 for the base and Plus models, showing where the company sees the most demand.
For everyday users, this means the S26 Plus will be a reliable device, but don’t expect anything revolutionary. Its performance will be solid thanks to the upgraded processors, but visually and in terms of display, it will feel almost identical to the previous generation.
Samsung is reportedly planning to unveil the S26 series in late February, giving fans a few weeks to see the official details. If you’re hoping for a brand-new look or major screen changes, the leaks and reports suggest your excitement might be best saved for the Ultra model.
