Even though 2027 is still a long way off, early leaks about the Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra are already catching attention. While the upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to bring only minor camera tweaks, Samsung seems to be saving its real upgrades for the next generation.
According to reliable leaker Ice Universe, the Galaxy S27 Ultra could arrive with three new camera sensors. The main camera, ultrawide lens, and selfie camera are all expected to see improvements. However, not everything is changing, as the telephoto camera may remain the same as the one used on the S26 Ultra.

Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra: Key Camera Upgrades
One of the most interesting rumors is Samsung finally moving on from the ISOCELL HP2 sensor. The Galaxy S27 Ultra could feature a new 200MP primary camera, and there’s even talk of Samsung using a Sony 1-inch class sensor. If this happens, users could see better low-light photos and more natural-looking images.
The ultrawide camera may also get attention. Samsung introduced a 50MP ultrawide sensor with the Galaxy S25 Ultra, but the S27 Ultra could switch to a newer sensor to improve sharpness and edge detail in wide shots.
Selfie fans have a reason to be hopeful as well. Leaks suggest Samsung is working on a better front-facing camera, possibly to close the gap with Apple when it comes to selfie photos and video quality.
That said, there may be no big changes to the zoom cameras. The Galaxy S27 Ultra is expected to keep its quad-camera setup, including a periscope lens for long-range zoom. Samsung may still fine-tune the software, even if the hardware stays the same.
With Samsung currently preparing the Galaxy S26 series, it’s clear that early planning for the Galaxy S27 Ultra is already underway. If these leaks turn out to be accurate, the S27 Ultra could become one of Samsung’s most exciting camera phones yet.
